Yamaha YM10 - Made In Japan - Similar to U1 & B3

The Yamaha YM10 is a rare model here in the US (since they were never distributed here).
Yamaha Japan has vastly more piano models available in their country than we are offered here in the USA.
Yamaha USA chooses select models from Japan based on their projected sales and profitability here in the US.

So why were the YM series pianos not brought in?
The YM series are a very nice array of upright pianos.
They are Japanese built and are above the quality of Yamaha’s B series which are made in Indonesia.
While they are above the quality of the B series, they sit just below the quality of Yamaha’s U and YU series uprights.
The YM series uprights are actually some very nice middle ground between the two model series, but I believe Yamaha USA likely thought the YM series would be too much for US dealers floors.

When comparing the YM series uprights to the B series uprights, the quality difference is pretty visual.
The YM series cabinets are much more robust (with the YM10s being almost identical to the new U series style), the hammers are nicer and the soundboard material looks to be a higher grade.
The tone of the YM series is certainly superior to the B series uprights and gives the U series some real competition.

We imported this piano from our partners refurbishing facility overseas (located in Japan and Korea)
